Re: The Ambrosia Society's Fleece
fantanyl Thank you so much for simplifying your hypothesis for me! I am a little embarrassed that I am not nearly as fluent in the lingo, nor the chemistry you are clearly adept in! But I just want to say that your hypothesis is EXACTLY what my intuition was, yet way better elucidated than I was ab...

Re: The Ambrosia Society's Fleece
EaglesNest So many good points you've mentioned here, thank you for your insights and participation. I agree that the fleece likely isn't ibotenic acid OR muscimol. The effect is different enough, yet similar enough I'm expecting it to be some sort of cousin chemical, most likely not identified. Fo...

Re: The Ambrosia Society's Fleece
fantanyl I am SO amazed at your work!!!! Your method of reusing the "body" of the fleece is so perfect! I think this is the way I want to work when I begin again. Thank you for sharing the photos too. I love the idea of making a SCOMBY. I will try making the ambrosia as you have done, and for the l...

Re: The Ambrosia Society's Fleece
EaglesNest I do find that fleece gives me a subtle floaty kind of pleasant «heavy» feeling, but i’ve never had an effect even remotely like from caps. I’ve tried to decarb higher amounts but a bigger dose does not seem to equal a bigger effect. Thank you for putting it that way. Yes. It was a subtl...

Re: The Ambrosia Society's Fleece
thanks Mcpato ! really appreciate your experienced eye for the fleece and your opinion ! in the attachments is an update of today, i think now its a bit more unmistakeable the fleece, but i wasn´t really sure because its thin appearence, in all the pics you can find in the net on top of the ambrosi...

Re: The Ambrosia Society's Fleece
thoughts ? only fleece or contams and fleece ? i did a non sterile test run on grape juice just to see if its really necessary to sterilize the liquid, because i hate sterilizing liquid medias with high sugar content, it caramelizes horrible every time i do it (pressure cooker) ... usually the myze...

Re: The Ambrosia Society's Fleece
fantanyl That is DEFINITELY IT!!! Yeah it does grow fast! So now the question is what do you want to do? That is a nice clean looking tuft of mold growing out of there! I would suggest that you 1) do whatever you want with it, but take a small amount of living fleece (seriously just tear off a smal...

Re: The Ambrosia Society's Fleece
Ooh yeah the larvae may be a problem. If you can air dry them thoroughly the larvae will be stopped in their tracks. Air Drying the amanitas without heat is ideal because the fleece spores seems to lose some of their vitality, but with larvae, I'd probably want to at least speed up drying. Even thou...

Re: The Ambrosia Society's Fleece
Wonderfully done constrapolator ! So, yes, I too was surprised at the variety of appearances of the fleece. To understand what is happening here I've just learned by experience. My understanding is that this is basically a matter of bioavailability of nutrients for the fleece. You can experiment wit...
