Were you able to read it? Can you provide an link to the accessible full text? It's always interesting to see more on this story. I'm not saying I'm competent to evaluate the full article, if I could see it, but I'm sure not without seeing it.

Re: Drinking Alcohol and Smoke Blends

Depends on what's in the blend? Considering the context, I guess it would include some fly agaric, though I'm a little surprised at that, but presumably other things too or it wouldn't be a "blend." Unfortunately, we don't have a ton of information about fly agaric pharmacology, so nothing about it ...

Re: Vandweller Amanita Preparation Quirks

By the way, I think I have a picture around here somewhere of a patch of several Amanitas, where some are very red and another is orange. The last patch I got into was distinctly more orange than usual - growing in conjunction with what I suppose is "river birch", Betula nigra , which is not as comm...

Re: Vandweller Amanita Preparation Quirks

You're going to learn by experience, and it will be perfectly OK - in small quantities there's no harm and usually not even discomfort. The point of boiling up a large batch is to average out the potency of the material - one mushroom might be stronger than another, so you get a more reliable averag...

Many of the links are invalid - at least, every one that has a "..." in it, and likely a couple others too. It looks like possibly a copy-and-paste operation, from a source that like these pages renders link text in an abbreviated form. I hope the original still exists, for an easy re-copy. I occasi...

Re: Amanitas dried at low temperature

From what very little "hard" data we have, at 60°C you could expect successful muscimol conversion. The extra temperature may just get rid of more ibotenic acid without creating any more muscimol. That's just one study though, and in Japanese so no one can say for sure. The other side of it is the e...

Re: Amanitas dried at low temperature

I hope you will try it, and let us know how it turns out. We don't seem to have an abundance of experience with variations like this. You'd need some way to expose the test material for a while to a constant temperature that doesn't go over about 176°F / 80°C, and you'd need to be able to tell the d...

Re: Amanitas with improper conversion, but still dried...still good to use?

You must let us know how it turns out. Use a little judgement and don't load up too much for starters. The knowledge we have around this stuff is not very solid; you can actually help, with one more bit of anecdotal evidence. If you have a good way to do the heat treatment, I encourage you to try th...

Re: cultivating Amanita

The organism will be spread out over a considerable space. As long as the trees in your yard live, it will be fine - its home is in their root zones, not where the fruiting bodies (a.k.a. mushrooms) come up.
