Re: Heavy Metals Warning
Or ibotenic acid. I agree no way it's heavy metals. I would just get samples of extracts tested so if I made an extract for 4 ounces for example I could find out the amount and type of heavy metals of a fairly sizeable batch. Could help me identify a batch safe to use regularly for microdosing for ...

Re: Heavy Metals Warning
It's good that you bring this up. It's something I've been aware of as well. I figure it's not such a big deal with the occasional dose. But long term it could be a disaster. The tricky thing is that it seems to vary a lot depending on the soil. Which means you'd have to test each and every batch to...

Re: Making one's own Amanita Oil ?
I would prepare the tea as instructed. Then boil it down to reduce the volume. Then add alcohol to about 20 % by volume. Should keep well. And I got you right that this would need no cooling for storage? Is there any danger of the mixture to ferment, so that I need a special bottle cap to enable an...

Re: Making one's own Amanita Oil ?
I would prepare the tea as instructed. Then boil it down to reduce the volume. Then add alcohol to about 20 % by volume. Should keep well. So. For example. Say you have 15 grams of dried Amanita. You make the tea, then boil it down to 50 ml. Then add 50 ml of 40 % vodka. That would give you a total ...

Re: Big News
That's nice, good work
Personally I would be mostly interested in knowing how different preparation methods affect the muscimol to ibotenic acid ratio.

Re: looking for a good tincture prep
You could simmer it following the usual procedure. Then boil it down to reduce the volume if needed, let it cool and then add enough alcohol to reach around 20 % by volume.

Re: Thoughts on filtration
This is my latest batch and is really clear. This was boiled in water and a tiny bit of vinegar for a long while. Then filtered through a nut milk bag first to grab big bits. It was also filtered through cotton made filters a few times. First it was done with vacuum and after via gravity. It was th...

Re: Oven drying experiences
Interesting, that so much liquid dribbled out, but they didn't deteriorate. I cut mine in strips, and left the oven door open a bit and the convection fan on, and monitored temperature with a cheap oven thermometer, a dial type that hangs from an oven rack. It has been a while - it's the middle of ...

Re: Oven drying experiences
Adding my own experiences for anybody who is interested. I've tried oven drying two batches in the past week. The first batch was just two caps, one large and one small. I put the oven on 80 degrees C (175 F), and verified the temperature with a cooking thermometer. The over must be pretty decent, b...

Re: Thoughts on filtration
I know it won't make it more potent. And I know all filtration methods will cause some loss in actives I am already working with stuff way more precise than a coffee filter. I use lab grade filter papers as will as very fine fritted glass filters, but I'm a perfectionist I always want to do better,...
