Muscimol mechanism of action

amanitadreamer I got some time to browse the literature today and have attached a PDF detailing some of the binding activity of muscimol. One quote from the paper: "Molecular modeling studies of GABA, muscimol, and bicuculline support the concept of these three agents acting at the orthosteric site...

Re: Protracted withdrawal syndrome (benzo)

Not sure I can give you exactly the answer you're looking for, but I can give some info and some of my experience. Muscimol is a direct GABA receptor ligand, while most of the other common chemicals (alcohol, benzos) are positive allosteric modulators. Direct receptor ligands bind to the active sit...

Re: Protracted withdrawal syndrome (benzo)

So as for the pharmacology of kava, it is a bit of a mystery. There are probably some people who could give a better explanation than I can and there is alot of great information over at the kava forums. It is not believed to be a receptor agonizing ligand of any kind as far as I am aware. I have ta...

Re: alcohol 1 day prior to small Amanita dose

I personally don't follow that rule and have not had problems but I also can't endorse it as everyone reacts differently. I have consumed them together many times. One day apart should really not be an issue in my opinion but if you want to be as safe as possible then it won't hurt to wait.

Re: Let's introduce ourselves.

Hey guys, I'm a 28 year old male in northern Delaware. Have had a strange connection to Amanita muscaria for many years. I have always been very drawn to it and it is the first mushroom I ever found. I had some experiences with them in college that proved rather interesting. One of which involved an...

Re: Photos & Finds Thread

Here are a few Amanita chrysoblema (sometimes referred to as Amanita muscaria var. alba). I don't use them because white amanitas are not something I want to mess around with, but as I've found them to be fairly uncommon I took a few photos. They are definitely some cool mushrooms.

Kombucha for decarboxylation? Amanita muscaria kombucha?

Hi all, just wondering if anyone else uses kombucha for decarboxylation of ibotenic acid. I make my own kombucha and I tend to end up with leftover, extremely strong kombucha that is too acidic to drink for my own sensory enjoyment. I usually simmer my caps in water with a little bit of this kombuch...

Re: Is there a scientific reason for the two-day alcohol abstinence rule?

Not recommending that anyone else do this, but I drink an amanita tea of ~1-2 grams after drinking alcohol sometimes. I don't drink heavily, usually 3-4 drinks, but alcohol impacts my sleep in a very disruptive way and if I make a tea out of 1-2 grams of dried mushroom I sleep well through the night...
