Not sure there is much fat in AM mushroom, but the alcohol can be a preservative (not just a stripper of fat/oils)and a catalyst to bring in the voice quickly.

Have you ever heard of Alton Browns unit that is cheap and easy to build and uses no heat and is large sized? The chef, TV host.
