Protecting Amanita from pests

I just started to see some success in transplanting some Panthers onto my own property. On two occasions now I've had a 1" or so cap just disappear overnight. Here in western WA state (US) we have tons of slugs this time of year. It may be slugs that are eating them or perhaps a squirrel or some oth...

What are the implications of not drying?

I have a couple Panthers and was just curious what the implications are of not drying them first? If I just boiled them into a tea and/or ate the mushroom solids altogether. Would I just not be converting some of the ibotenic acid into muscimol? Would there be any risk of getting sick from doing thi...

Any Amanitas around Ocean Shores now?

Hi, yesterday while on a mountain bike ride out at the Seabrook trails I saw a young Amanita. Left it thinking I could find others, but that's the only one I've seen around here in the past couple days. Are there any locatins around Ocean Shores that are known good spots for them? I'm not asking for...

Re: how to propagate Amanitas?

I have a vide on slurrying as a placeholder until I can get the better one made, which I am editing at the moment and hope to have up tonight. :) Ok, I have my discards festering in a bucket of pure Pacific Northwest rainwater. Looking pretty nasty so far. I'll go spread it through my forest when i...

Amanita ameripanthera?

Found these growing in grass beneath Douglas firs in Western WA state. Do these look like Panthers? Spore print was white.

Re: dried Amanita on pizza?

Have you tried it? I haven't tried them on pizza yet. But I have been experimenting with eating a small portion of a dried cap after dinner in the evening. I definitely feel a pleasant sort of energy from a piece as small as 1sq inch. I think sprinkling some bits on top of pizza would definitely pr...

You seen any by now?
Yes, I have been finding them lately. They seem to like growing around small lakes and near fir and birch trees.

Are you in this area?
