Re: The Ambrosia Society's Fleece
just checked the pH of the Lactobacillus brevis culture I did inoculate 2 jars with 30g/l sugar and a little sprinkle yeast nutrients, and in one of the two jars the pH was manipulated down to ~5 with tartraric acid, this is as i already mentioned my first time culuring an isolated bacteria strain (...

Re: The Ambrosia Society's Fleece
@fantanyl Thank you so much for simplifying your hypothesis for me! I am a little embarrassed that I am not nearly as fluent in the lingo, nor the chemistry you are clearly adept in! Thanks Mcpato ! It means a lot to me that my lingo is well recieved, because i think as you already recognized, engl...

Re: The Ambrosia Society's Fleece
So after the maybe a little confusion like post at some points yesterday i wanted to clear the mess up a little bit. This post is dedicated to the Structure similarities thing i talked about. So my claim is as already said, the GAD could have the same impact (decarboxylation) on the mystery compound...

Re: The Ambrosia Society's Fleece
fantanyl If there is acidification happening, you may already have lactobacillus present in the brew. It looks like you have a vinegar or kombucha culture growing with the fleece mold - so instead of a SCOBY (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeasts) you have a SCOMBY (symbiotic culture of mold, ba...

Re: The Ambrosia Society's Fleece
of course there are holes at the top of the jars, covererd with micropore tape, so airchange is possible but nothing else (but i think a piece of cloth or something like that would be also fine, because its not sterile inside anyway) mpt 1.jpg mpt2.jpg with this method its much easyer to fully colon...

Re: The Ambrosia Society's Fleece
Thanks Mcpato ! yeah giving up is absolutly no option, i´m at the very beginning at this moment :) I actually did a couple of trys with the raw ambrosia of my last batch, the effects seem to be more consistent than with the decarb process, but i´m sure i´m doing something wrong with the decarb, i´ll...

Re: The Ambrosia Society's Fleece
sooo, i did a couple of tests with my first batches of ambrosia, one with my first little batch only sat for 5 days or so. this was far too less time and tasted not really different then just the original grape juice (decarbed in double boiler and diluited) ~200 ml before diluition and felt nothing ...

Re: The Ambrosia Society's Fleece
thanks Mcpato ! really appreciate your experienced eye for the fleece and your opinion ! in the attachments is an update of today, i think now its a bit more unmistakeable the fleece, but i wasn´t really sure because its thin appearence, in all the pics you can find in the net on top of the ambrosia...
