Re: Dispute with drying temps and times in relation to potency!
Degrade active ingredients can be problematic, do you mean degrade ibotenic acid? And are you certain you mean decarboxylate or do you mean degrade? And this is why words are important to scientists. If this person means degrade then they are saying to completely destroy ibotenic acid which is far ...

Re: Amanita pantherina?
I'd guess muscaria, if it's of only academic interest. If it were a question of whether I was going to eat it or not, I'd guess pantherina.

Re: Dispute with drying temps and times in relation to potency!
This is directly contrary to Amanita Dreamer's protocol to dehydrate at heat to achieve up to 30% IBO conversion rate. Drying at temps under 50°C for example will not achieve any relevant conversion. Clearly the objective differs, right? If your purpose is to eliminate as much of the ibotenic acid ...

I don't right off hand see any problem with her version of the table, it's just condensed from the original, but then I don't understand your issue with the ppm units. I wish I could read the text. Of course between fresh and dry state, the material loses a lot of water, and to be useful, the report...

For the full original research report, Change in Ibotenic Acid and Muscimol Contents in Amanita muscaria during Drying, Storing or Cooking . Anyone read Japanese? It depends on what you want. From 50° to 80°, they got pretty fair conversion to muscimol. In that range, if you want the least residual ...

Re: Got some Amanita and want to microdose, now what?
Can such a small nibble of a cap be responsible for that? or would it have been a placebo? That placebo effect is quite powerful. If "really tiny" means what I think it means, that's probably it , though the symptoms sound accurate. You'll know more if you increase the quantity, but ... if you like...

Re: Why is muscimol so desired?
I've had several experiences with Amanita so far. To me, microdosing unconverted stuff is more effective. I feel like that's because of the stronger effects of ibotenic acid. We also do the conversion internally. Clearly not effectively enough that we can simply input ibotenic acid and get the same...

Re: Foraging
I think the season's good, in the northern hemisphere. Rain rather encourages them, though I suspect they don't last as long when it's wet. Here in a part of the North American west coast with somewhat similar weather - though I think much drier summers - we see them for several months, though I rec...

Re: Amanita microdose for energy and motivation?
Okay, so I should expect at least a few days of dosing before I notice to peak beneficial effects? I think it's more like, during the initial week or so you will adapt somewhat to the effects. Which is essentially the same thing, but it's more on what you do, than what you observe. Lately I've been...
