Re: Australia! Amanita and Forest Fires

-Maybe following low intensity fires, there is some degree of disturbance to the humus layer underneath the char that stimulates mycorrhizae, and favours some fungal colonies over others? In my area the morel is well known for this behavior, fruits in great quantity after fires in the predominately...

Re: List of Trees Amanita Are Associated With

Oaks are also absent, and i think a few amainita sp. (phyllodes comes to mind) associate with oaks. At first glance, I wondered how I could have missed that - but I didn't. Go to the bottom, where the New Zealand A. muscaria has apparently been branching out and breaking new ground. are you referri...

Re: The Ambrosia Society's Fleece

If i get brave enough to consume it, and it has the same effects as muscaria, then if it quacks like a duck! The way I thought it stood, they'd come up with a way around that. That is, outside of perhaps some true believers, they recognize that it's mold. But it isn't just any mold, it's mold from ...

Re: List of Trees Amanita Are Associated With

At first glance it looks like every common forest tree, with exceptions mostly due to missing data, but I see maples are conspicuously absent. There certainly are a lot more, though. I've seen it in a group of Arbutus unedo, with nothing else nearby. That's a close relative of madrona, in the Ericac...

Re: Sensitive vision/ eye sore

I could have missed something, it isn't clear to me how we'd really know. Your "the whole teaspoon" could have a very wide range of potency, depending on the preparation and the mushrooms you started with. But that's just my usual overly analytical perspective. If you can back down the dosage and it...

Re: Sensitive vision/ eye sore

I've never heard of it (for what it's worth, which isn't much.) And it sounds like for amanitadreamer, it actually helped reduce light sensitivity. I assume you're using Amanita muscaria; it's a natural product that varies a lot, so you may find that you have some stuff that's very different from wh...

Re: Can cooking destroy muscimol? Max temp?

I'm thinking about using an oven which I can set way more precise temperature using a food-thermometer. Note that as long as what you're cooking there isn't quite dry, it won't reach the temperature your thermometer indicates, and that's just one of the temperature measuring problems in an oven. My...

Re: Amanita hot water filtration - coffee

Espresso is a kind of coffee preparation that manages to extract a reasonable amount of the oils and aromatics, while leaving behind things like tannins, so you can get a tasty drinkable brew that's only an ounce or so. Using a short exposure to brew water at elevated pressure and just the right tem...

Re: First time | microdosing | questions! :)

Oh yeah. Videos that are basically just talking remind me of what I believe may be a 17th century quote from Pascal (translated from French) "I have made this [letter] longer than usual because I have not had time to make it shorter."
