I got some time to browse the literature today and have attached a PDF detailing some of the binding activity of muscimol. One quote from the paper: "Molecular modeling studies of GABA, muscimol, and bicuculline support the concept of these three agents acting at the orthosteric site at GABAa receptors in varying active confirmations". The orthosteric site is where endogenous GABA binds in normal function.

There's is some other interesting information in there, but not all necessarily related to muscimol. May be worth a read.
