Heat drying best practice

Post by Delkrak » Sun Jul 04, 2021 7:23 pm

Hi amanita people,

I'm new to working with amanita and is uncertain about the heat drying best practice. From the "How To Dry Amanita Muscaria" video (https://www.amanitadreamer.net/?wix-vod ... p-kmnu9lth) I get the following procedure:
  • Heat dry pre-dried amanita's between 165-195 degree Fahrenheit (68-74 degree Celsius) to convert up to 30% of the ibotenic acid to muscamol.
My questions:
  1. The temperature ranges are inconsistent. 165-195 degree Fahrenheit is equivalent to 74-90 degree Celsius, compared to the listed 68-74 degree Celsius. What is the correct temperature range?
  2. No heat treatment time is listed. How long time should the mushroom's be heat treated?

Thanks, and much love from Denmark.

If you have a dehydrator, you set it to max heat, which is usually 160-165 F.
You dehydrate til cracker dry. Hope this helps :)

The link you entered just takes me to the main page, do you remember the title of the video you were referring to?

I think I have a similar question, I just learned that the dried ones I got were done at 100 F. So, since they are already cracker dry, do I need to put them in my dehydrator at the higher temp and if so how long.

Did you get all squared away?
