Making tea from non-dried amanita?

Hi there :)

I was wondering if it’s possible to make tea from amanita caps that are fresh? I only have enough for one batch and am not needing to store any long-term. I’d like to just make a tea from what I have—do I have to dry it? Or can I just cook it in water?

I don’t have a dehydrator so I would only be air-drying it anyway, which wouldn’t be converting any of the goodies in it I don’t think. So is it necessary?

Thank you in advance :)

Hi Brigette!

I was happy to see your question here, as I wonder the same thing! Would also love some thoughts on this.

I am also curious about preserving a tea made from fresh amanita muscaria.

Bumping this.

Also, if yes, would you still use 15g of fresh amanitas?

I have the same question, re preparing tea without drying. Also, I'm wondering if there is a "too far gone" stage when harvesting? I found a bunch of Amanitas which had already "opened", and most were pretty floppy.

Thank you for posting.. I was looking for a wet weight vs dry weight equivalent. Did you come across the 10-fold value somewhere, or is it an educated guess? I think for our own purposes, re standardization for the sake of consistency, a questioned is fine...? it just makes sense to use that 10x as a reference point, and move slowly when finding ones dose?.

Thanks again
