Amanita in early Christian art

Post by Atropine » Thu Aug 20, 2020 4:22 pm

The author of this book: The secrets of Hildegard von Bingen, https://www.a3boeken.nl/nl/webshop/de-g ... an-keizer/ has created a collection of early Christian art in which the amanita is central.

The text is in Dutch but if you scroll down you will see the early Christian images.

Fascinating
Enjoy !

The Holy mushroom by J R Irvin has some good pictures of aminita and other mushrooms in Christian art also. All seem to be pre 15th century. Could it be tied to the destruction of the Cathars and the disappearance of Tataria?
