Any Amanitas around Ocean Shores now?

Post by Matt » Mon Dec 06, 2021 10:54 pm

Hi, yesterday while on a mountain bike ride out at the Seabrook trails I saw a young Amanita. Left it thinking I could find others, but that's the only one I've seen around here in the past couple days.
Are there any locatins around Ocean Shores that are known good spots for them? I'm not asking for anyone to give up their secret spots, but if anynoe wouldn't mind mentioning some places I could go looking I'd appreciate it.
Thanks!

Amanitas are ectomycorrhizal fungi, big werd meaning that they only exist in a symbiotic relationship with specific trees. Unlike other fungi that may only interact with one or two trees amanitas enjoy a wider range of trees.

Once you find one pay attention to what tree it is buddy-buddy with. Then find yourself a forest of those trees.
