Tallest of the bunch... this one I picked a few days ago, she's on the mantel. I'll probably toss this one. It was too white when I noticed it

So hi to all you happy people :D
I'm new here and saying hello.
my interest in this started 3 years ago. Perfect Mario Brother in my front yard - 7" wide open and the deep nice red, she was beautiful! but I could not find enough info 3 years ago to have a comfortable ID :( so,I picked it, researched it,dried it, dreamed about it, looked at it, and then tossed it away - I was too afraid lol

Well, I am on a mission to find the right stuff.
This is frustrating though... so many say "when it looks like this, it is unmistakable" well, Raleigh NC and everything i see out there has the classic Mario form, only not "super bright" yellow and pink this year. I do see the classic Mario Brothers tan ones elsewhere near me, I know those are bad... whites and tans bad... is pink unmistakable? I mean, does a noticeable red tone (not copper, tan, or something close) but a pure RED tone mean it is muscaria (understood that if found very light red, it is also likely weak).

So the pics i share are out my front steps, 10 feet from 2 large pines... it has rained before they popped up and while they have been up.
How bright do they need to be to be unmistakable? and is the yellowish guessowii also 'unmistakable' if all else matches.
I'm not asking for an ID... just sharing what is out my front steps while I watch them grow and do more research :D
Thank you Amanita Dreamer - your videos are great! I still need to watch a couple of your earlier ones... :)
And thank you James for getting this group together!
She's pretty. Not sure she's real

I found this small Amanita muscaria today, and remembered St. Walburgas miraculous oil phial in a tapestry:

"...St. Walburga’s oil continues to flow every year from about October 12 to February 25, two of her feast days. It seeps from her relics through a thick slab of stone where it is collected and distributed by the nuns of the Abtei St. Walburg..."

@Fungo The forum's image hosting is full. If you want to post up pictures, you'll have to post to an image hosting site and then link it over. ImgBB has worked pretty well so far.

Hope this helps!

Ó Fungo - are they often so small, there? They come in different sizes, naturally, but it seems to me these are smaller than I've seen. Lovely, though.
