Mannitol effects

Post by Aquavitae » Thu Dec 26, 2019 12:01 am

Some of A.muscaria reported effects in higher doses are similar to some side effects of mannitol, an alcohol sugar present in A. muscaria´s tissues. These are some of the side effects of Osmitrol a brand name for mannitol.

Low blood pressure (hypotension),convulsions, chills, dizziness, thirst, nausea, vomiting, blurred vision, urinary retention, runny nose, skin rash, hives, high blood pressure (hypertension), fever

Maybe we have been overlooking this compound, trapped in the muscimol vs ibotenic acid false dilemma?

So, does "Mannitol " come from the word manna, the biblical bread from God?

Were the ancient cultures who consumed this cogumelo also getting a kind of "sugar high", if such a thing exists?

Is this sugar, now used as a food additive, what attracts flies?

Many questions come up with this mannitol thing...

Also, Mannitol is used to reduce swelling and pressure inside the eye or around the brain.

Well, I´m reading in the book "The fungal pharmacy" (Robert Rogers) that professor Scudder (Samuel Hubbard?) suggested that a tincture of Amanita muscaria is best for involuntary twitching of the muscles of the face, forehead, and even the eyes. Donnot know if this is due to this polyol or to some other compund or interaction between them.

What i do know is that this mushroom seems to be more complex and rich than what one might inicially suppose
