"Muscimol = sedative, Ibotenic acid = stimulant" - Is this true?

Post by TheBlindHarper » Sun Nov 08, 2020 7:29 pm

I have read this claim before - That Muscimol is sedative and Ibotenic acid is stimulant - and, after asking some questions on Reddit, I had someone message me saying the same thing.

Is there any truth to this?

Thank you

Ibotenic acid acts as an excitatory rather than a stimulant i think. It acts on the cholinergic and opioid peptidergic systems instead of doing it on the dopaminergic system like stimulants do.

It acts on NMDA and seems to have an stimulant like effect
