I've been steeping dried amanita caps in lemon before boiling. Is this okay?!

A questions for those with a little more experience…

Does it matter if you steep the dried mushrooms in lemon before boiling? :?:
I've been steeping them in 2 lemons for 10 or so minutes before, and then just putting it all in the pan with the water to boil and simmer.

I'm using the now well known method of making the tea by @amanitadreamer - e.g. 1 Cup(250mls) of Water per 15grams of dried mushroom caps and simmered for ~25 minutes.

The resulting liquid seems to be good, it's certainly more tasty taken neat as it has a zingy lemon flavour
Is this okay to do? Or should the lemon be added after to get the best conversion?

Thanks ya'll.

I'm now wondering if it will go off quicker with the lemon added beforehand… Had a batch that started to look like it had a white stringy bit in overnight… Mould perhaps?

Is it still okay to take if I remove the white bits?

Any thoughts or experience with this appreciated.
