So here in the PNW fall is getting close. The nights are cold. It has not started to rain in earnest but that is not far away.
So I am wondering if people can point me to resources on what to look for in terms of the kinda areas/trees/etc these mushrooms grow in in the PNW.
Also resources on where to find these mushrooms in general would be helpful as would around the Olympia in specific.

Re: finding Amanita
Hi, Jackie. I would start looking around small lakes at low elevation to start. I have seen Amanita growing up in the Cascades in drier conditions, but it seems I usually find them around lakes. Around here in Skagit county they also seem to like growing near Douglas Fir while other people say they find them near alder or elm trees.
Happy hunting!
