Long Boil Method

Is there a specific protocol for the long boil method of Ibo conversion / decarb? If so, what is it?
What I'm coming up with is basically boiling it in water, with lemon juice added, for three hours.
Does anyone have any good advice for me in this endeavor?
Finally, does anyone know of a good inexpensive pH meter that I can buy and use for this?
