Making a waterextract last a long time

Post by Dionysos » Sat Dec 12, 2020 1:16 pm

Hello Amanitafriends,
I made a waterextract from 15g dried mushrooms and now i have about 750ml of extract.
I have boiled it and put it into a steril bottle, how long can i expect to keep it, or do i have to make a sugat sirup from it to make it last longer?

If you have access to a freezer and freeze a large portion of it, it should last a long time.

What I do, is freeze it in ice cube trays and then take out 1, 2 or 3 ice cubes as and when I feel like it.

Hi, I never freeze my samples and they last months because for 1 cup of finished extract I will add 1 tablespoon 96% grain alcohal. In all my edibles as well so all are shelf stable.
Sorry, just found this post.

Like the above person mentioned adding an appropriate amount of grain alcohol is a great way to stabilize (add shelf life)
